McD Digital Promotes Fun in the Missouri Sun

The Story

Located in the heart of Missouri, Lake of the Ozarks is a premier summertime destination with world-class boating, watersports, fishing, golfing and state parks — along with a remarkably wide selection of resorts, condos and vacation homes. Whether traveling with friends, bringing the kids along or getting away for a long, romantic weekend, the Lake caters to groups of all ages and lifestyles, inviting everyone to enjoy their own idea of a vacation — as laid back or action-packed as they want.

The Challenge

The Lake of the Ozarks CVB worked with McD Digital to redesign their website, funlake.com, which launched in early 2021. Designed to provide users with an experience that left them excited, informed and inspired, the site design used impactful photography that accented the Lake’s lure along with prominent service boxes for a sleek, streamlined user interface. In 2022, the CVB approached McD Digital once again to help further position Lake of the Ozarks as an established leisure destination for curated activities and experiential fun.

The Solution

CREATING AN EXPERIENCE

The site design used colors and textures familiar to the organization, accenting a modern design that positioned the Lake as a Midwestern destination of choice. These brand elements were then applied to digital advertising materials to create a sense of brand cohesion.

GOOGLE DISPLAY WITH RETARGETING - ON LAKE TIME

Targeting a 19-state region, McD Digital designed a Google Display campaign that promoted four distinct activities on and around the Lake — boating, live music, fishing and golf. Display ads used the same impactful photography that gave funlake.com its unique flair. Ads were targeted to users up to 12 hours away and included users' interests such as lake life, fishing, hiking, golfing, bike trails, water sports, cave exploration and nature preserves. The campaign deployed in September of 2022 for three months with a second flight that ran from March - May 2023.
